- Roscoe Chenier - Roscoe Style
'Roscoe Style' is the first European release by
guitarist/vocalist Roscoe Chenier from Opelousas, Louisiana. Next to a couple
of originals, Roscoe brings mostly covers done in his unique style. The album
offers a wide range of Louisiana music, ranging from airy swamp pop to the broody,
dark down home swamp blues that was made popular by artists with the likes of
Lightnin' Slim, Lazy Lester, Lonesome Sundown ...
B&T004
- Dave MacKenzie - Old, New, Borrowed & Blue
A great sense of humour, a refined technique on
the guitar, his personal tone and a spotless timing set guitarist, vocalist
Dave MacKenzie aside from many of his counterparts in today's acoustic blues
scene. Cover or original... it doesn't matter... Like the great masters who
influenced Dave, he always stays true to himself from start to finish. The album
is partly solo and partly with accompaniment by Dave Fleming on bass and Paul
Griffith on drums.
B&T005
- Boo Boo Davis - East St Louis
Drummer/vocalist Boo Boo Davis out of St Louis,
Missourri. He used to play the renowned blues club Tubby's Red Room in East
St Louis with his brothers, called the Davis Brothers. It's a very raw sound
reminiscent to the powerful music of Howlin' Wolf in his heydays, however Boo
never steps into the imitation trap and stays true to himself and his style.
B&T006
- Erskine Oglesby - Blues Dancin'
The music ranges from straight jump blues to jazzy
instrumentals. All tracks displaying Erskine's personal sound on the sax. Surprisingly,
the album is also Erskine's debut as a vocalist. It seems Erskine Oglesby is
ready to claim his place next to AC Reed and Eddie Shaw, both sax men who were
able to hold their own as frontmen of their respective bands. One cool sax man
out of St Louis Missouri
